La Asociación Mexicana de Ex libris, A. C. integra a bibliófilos, artistas,
coleccionistas y personas interesadas en fomentar el uso y evitar la desaparición
del ex libris como forma de arte y marca de propiedad bibliográfica.
OBJETIVOS
• Difundir el uso, creación, coleccionismo e investigación de ex libris.
• Rescatar el sentido bibliófilo del ex libris como marca de propiedad bibliográfica.
• Promover el coleccionismo en salas de intercambio y compra entre integrantes de la Asociación.
• Despertar el interés de bibliófilos y artistas para la creación de nuevas marcas y nuevos coleccionistas.
• Impulsar a los coleccionistas mexicanos a establecer intercambio con coleccionistas de otros países.
• Impulsar el coleccionismo a través del montaje de exposiciones de colecciones particulares mexicanas y extranjeras.
• Promover la catalogación de ex libris en bibliotecas públicas y privadas. Sentar las bases para la historia del ex librismo en México.
• Despertar el interés para futuros estudios e investigaciones sobre el tema.
ORÍGENES
La Asociación Mexicana de Ex libris A.C. (Mexlibris), con actividades desde 1999 y legalmente constituida desde el 1 de julio de 2004, se fundó como respuesta a la invitación de la FISAE (Federation Internacional des Societés D’Amateurs D’Ex libris) para asistir al congreso organizado en el año 2000 en la ciudad de Boston, Massachusetts, donde se exhibieron tres colecciones de ex libris mexicanos; una de ellas sirvió de motivación para la publicación del libro Ex libris Mexicanos, Artistas del siglo XX, que representó a México durante el congreso.

Me da mucho gusto que nazca este blog, porque sé que a todos los que lo visiten les pasará como a mi: al entrar en contacto con Selva y su entusiasmo (presidenta de la Asociación Mexicana de Ex Libris), descubrí la belleza de este arte y el gran don que puede significar para marcar la propiedad de los libros con distinción y afecto.
